What is the meaning of the title?
To me the meaning of the title is living life the way you want to. As Tosh stated twice in the book talking about how Kiyoshi and he will have to work until the debt is gone. Again Tosh stated that the debt could take about twenty years or more. The significant part about wanting their bodies’ was to box and the work they had to do in order to get the money was hard on their body. Not only was the work hard on their bodies the only food they could get did not work with their workouts and training, something I know much about.
Something great about part III was Tosh becoming a boxer and complaining with Kiyoshi following not too far behind. The both started to become great boxers and get better jobs at the plantation but would still take much time to finish debt. The way Tosh saw the debt going away was the boxing fights and become champ, in turn he needed his body at top shape. Again with Kiyoshi following Tosh’s footsteps becoming a boxer and later on champ. In the end “all I asking for is my body” is the way Tosh and Kiyoshi saw as the best and fastest way out of debt with boxing.

All I Asking For Is My Body, Part II, Dialogue
"She insisted that rice should always be scooped at least twice from the big bowl to the individual bowls even if the second scoop was a token one without any rice on the ladle." (14)
"All I asking for is my body" is the by far the best book I have had to read for school. Most books you read in school are not ones you would usually pick up on your own or even take a second look at. Then with those books you are given you either hate it or enjoy it. This book is no different, I would have never picked it up or looked inside. What is different though is the moment I started ti read the book I couldn't put it down. The reason for this sudden and strange connection is I am Japanese and reading all the Japanese words and phase that I relate to.
Starting with "zori" a word I never hear anywhere else but with family. Next would be your parents and elders are always right and you have to follow what they said even if you don't quite agree. That was how I was raised and how the rest of my family on both sides were, so to me that was the "norm". Which always confused me when i was younger when other parents or adults would say I was so good and not like other kids my age. The next great big connect would be the superstitions in the book especially the one I quoted something I have listen to since I could remember. When I asked about why we did it my mother would just say that was what her oba-chan did. Oba-chan being grandmother like in the book as "0baban", which again is a connect where I laugh a bit. I must say this is a book I really do enjoy and can't to read more.

All I Asking For Is My Body, Part I, Dialogue
The narrator of "All I asking for is my body" is Kiyoshi Oyama a fourth grader. If I can still remember Kiyoshi would be about nine years old. Kiyoshi is not the only name he goes by in the book, he also goes by Kiyo-chan and Kyo. As to where Kiyoshi lives and where the book takes places is Pepelau, Hawaii. Which does not seem to be a actual place as I just put into Google and came up with classmate's blogs and wedding dresses.
As for what Kiyoshi's parents do as a living his father is a fisherman and his mother stays at home making kimonos. As stated in the book Kiyoshi's father is a fisherman and everyday brings home the best fish caught for dinner. Which is something you can get sick of according to Kiyoshi if you have three times a day, but to me that sounds pretty good. While Kiyoshi's mother sews kimonos by hand they never looked like Makoto-san's mother kimonos as Kiyoshi points out. While the other main point made by Kiyoshi's parents is the father makes the money and in Makoto-san's family the mother makes the money. I'm going to guess this comes into play later in the book.

Rules for Writes Chapter 63
A chapter about the basics of sentences and the patterns of sentences. Here is something I have not gone over in who knows how long and something I needed to go over again. Has many examples with sentence patterns with subject, linking verbs, subject complement, transitive verb, direct object, indirect object, object complement, and intransitive verb all in it. Helping you identify subjects and verbs in the sentence. With all terms I listed before the chapter explains them and gives examples and practice sentence to use. With the end of the chapter talking about transformations of sentence from present/active to past/passive. While in the chapter there are little notes about thing writers make mistakes on that sometime you might now see. So, the notes are there to help you remember and know to look for them like using a past voice when a present voice would be better.
This is a chapter I definitively needed to read and be reminded again because it has been so look since learning and going over. I really can't remember the last time I went over sentence structure and totally forgot most of it. After going over it again it all came back again, so it is somewhere in my mind. This chapter will help me not make so many fragment sentences while typing my essays, now remembering sentence structure. The other great thing I was reminded of, past and present voices in papers. Past and present voices are something I know I need to work on in my papers. Hopefully with more reading and practice writing this will become much better.

Rough Essay 3
Before you read you should know that I know I repeat a lot in this rough draft could not find the right words. Hopefully within the next week those words will come to me. Thanks
Roles of Forgiveness
Smoke Signals a movie we all have seen about two Native American’s journey to Arizona. On the way to Arizona and back Thomas Builds-the-Fire and Victor Joseph show all kinds of emotion, but one emotion stands out from the rest, forgiveness. Forgiveness plays an important and huge role in Smoke Signals from seeing characters grow to moving the story along. Starting with Thomas Builds-the-Fire the local storyteller, who mixes fact with fiction to make his stories.
Thomas a person who loves to tell stories but not everyone wants to listen especially when they are the same and are not quite true, which never stops Thomas from telling stories or what’s on his mind. This characteristic of telling what’s on his mind gets Thomas into trouble with Victor. Thomas always tells Victor what is on his mind, which gets Victor mad ending up in Thomas getting hurt. Even though this happen Thomas still sees Victor as a friend because he forgives Victor for his actions. The reason for the forgiveness is Thomas understands Victor and knows they both have had hard lives. This forgiveness Thomas has also goes for Arnold Victor’s father, Arnold who killed Thomas’s parents. Even something so terrible Thomas forgives Arnold and still sees him as a father figure and good person unlike Victor.
Victor the tough Native American, a character who is affected the most by the role forgiveness plays in the movie. Most importantly with his father Arnold, Victor does not see Arnold as his father anymore when Arnold leaves the reservation. When Arnold leaves the only events Victor remembers of Arnold are the unpleasant ones. Victor really shows that he does not like Arnold even to the point of hating everything about Arnold. This of course changes on the journey to and from Arizona with the help of forgiving a form of forgiveness. Victor comes to terms with Arnold in the end forgiving what Arnold for what he had done.
Victor’s enlightenment coming mainly from Suzy retelling Arnold’s happy memories from the reservation. Suzy helps Victor see that Arnold was trying to get forgiveness from the people he had hurt. This all comes full circle when Suzy reveals Arnold as the person who set the fire many years ago. Something Victor had no idea of as well as the reservation. With this news Victor is able to come closer to understand Arnold’s actions. Forgiveness is finally achieved by Arnold from Victor as Victor comes closer to understanding him. This in turn Thomas, who has always had forgiveness for Victor, is finally return back. Thomas the person who always initiated the conversation between him and Victor is repaid by the role forgiveness plays on Victor. Victor the person, who was always a bit mean or more to Thomas, shows Thomas a kinder side of himself; by giving Thomas some of Arnold’s ashes. This is done in part the forgiveness Victor finds with Arnold and Thomas being a friend. With roles of forgiveness played out by main characters, the story it self has forgiveness woven in.
Smoke Signals base story has forgiveness written in. A great example would be Suzy burning Arnold’s trailer at the same time at the same time Arnold’s pickup roars to life for Victor. This symbolizes Victor forgiving Arnold and knowing Arnold did care for him. This is one of many examples in Smoke Signals were forgiveness is not far off if not already there. So you can be sure there are many roles of forgiveness in Smoke Signal.

Writing About Film
Writing about film is something I thought I had down pretty well. According to this is website I am not even as close as I thought. The reason is I add in my feelings or thoughts into my writing about film, while the website said try to hold off a little on the "I". Other things in the website were different types of film writing and how to do them. Other great tools the website has is film lingo and tips on how to write about film. For example the website has what looks like all terms used in film making and what not like the different camera shots and lighting words.
As to how I will use this new information is in my essay 3 for this week. The tips written at the end of the article will be something I will continue to look at. With knowing how to write more about film essay 3 will hopefully be easier to write. Now on to the hard part to start essay 3 now with new information.

"This is what it means to say Phoenix, Arizona” Dialogue
Are you more impressed with the film or the story? Why?
I must say that I am more impressed with the film than the story. Usually it is the other way around, I enjoy the story more than the film. The reason for this change is most likely due to the fact that I watched the film first before reading the story. When I read the book than watch the film I can see all the parts they left out. Which for me takes away from the story and all the different feelings you had while reading the book. When the book comes to the big screen you sometimes do not get all of the feelings, you got from the book.
The other reason for enjoying the film more than the book is how the characters are portrayed. In the movie Thomas and Victor are shown as never really having a relationship with each other until the adventure. While in the story Thomas and Victor are shown to have a relationship with each other until a few years earlier and their adventure does not seem to do anything. This again could be me just enjoying happy ends. Cause who does not like a happy ending at the end of the day.

Smoke Signals, the movie Dialogue
What do you think about the relationship between Thomas and Victor?
The relationship of Thomas and Victor is a strange one at best. Throughout the movie you see Thomas treated not so nice by Victor, a reoccurring theme in Thomas's life. Something that stands out between Thomas and Victor is Thomas always starts the conversation and Victor never does. Which is why their relationship is a bit strange. They will talk to each other and have a friendship but Victor does not see Thomas in the same way Thomas sees Victor. This all changes when they start their adventure to Arizona.
As they travel to Arizona and back you see their friendship grow as well as themselves. Thomas "grows up" according to Victor and becomes a equal in Victor eyes while traveling. While Victor comes to past with his father and becomes friendly to Thomas. With the start of the movie Thomas and Victor seem to be miles apart from one another. As their adventure comes to an end Thomas and Victor's relationship strengthen and the miles apart from each other shorten.

"Obituary" Dialogue
What's your response to Mr. Harvey?
Mr. Harvey seems to be a tough mean guy and sounds like he does not want to be there. On the other hand Mr. Harvey could be giving tough love to help push the kids to learn "Standard English" to get that job. As the chapter goes on you see how Lovey is graded for what she writes, which does not leave Mr Harvey with much. You see that Lovey wants to write more but never does and she can only be graded on what is shown, making Mr. Harvey look like harsh grader. While Jerry does not write much more than Lovey gets slightly higher grades.
By the end of the chapter Mr. Harvey looks to me like a person who does not like where he is. When he ask the kids to write about what they would do if their parents die in a train crash with a vivid description. To me that does not seem like the best way for kids to learn. I know that I would not learn well in that kind of environment. In the end my response to Mr. Harvey is not all that great, to me he does not seem like a great teacher.

Writing Topic: Rules for Writers chapter 47
Chapter 47 is about writing well constructed argument papers. The chapter really shows how to write a strong organized debatable paper. Most of it is how to write the paper to show your side and how a audience might read your paper. Along with how to write a argument paper, also what to put in it too like citing text, adding statistics, and facts. When adding these to a paper not to add too much or too long, which will take away from the paper and from your voice. With the end of the chapter talking about adding a bit on the counter argument.
What I found surprising is adding in your paper what the counter argument might be. This I guess makes you look like you did not only research on your side, but also the other side. I never really thought about this and definitely will remember for next argument paper. Going on that thought I will guess we will be doing a argument paper in the near future. Which will most likely be a challenge for me not doing one in who knows how long. As for how to add facts and statistics into papers the guideline for add a little but not to much will help. Never really knew how much is too little or too much and citing experts will help papers look more informed.

Extra Credit: Optional Writing Topic Summary
This online article talks about how to make a thesis stronger by making it more debatable. In the article shows examples of two thesis's made better by making it more debatable and focus on a single idea. The two thesis's were a summary of a play and a list of texts, which are not really debatable and not very exciting. When turned into a new thesis makes it stronger and more debatable.
This article helps me with making thesis's stronger and more exciting for a reader to continue. This will help with my current essay on making a better thesis for the final draft due Sunday. For future essays this will help me make stronger thesis's and shorten and strengthen already made thesis's.

Essay 2
Haruki Yee
March 10, 2011
English 100
Relating to Sarah Vowell
“Dad and I started bickering in earnest when I was fourteen, after the 1984 Democratic National Convention.” (page 434). The same would go for me, my dad and I started to things differently around this age. Nothing as elaborate as elections, more about seeing things from different points of view and not joining into his favorite hobby.
While Sarah’s dad made guns and my dad was a category 1 cyclist. For those who don’t know what a category 1 racer is its pretty much pro level. My dad said if he didn’t get into Cal Poly, his plan B was to move to France were cycling was the biggest back then. These are two very different hobbies but both Sarah and I had a difficult first experience. We know what happen to Sarah and you can guess what happen to me, being on a two wheel bike for the first time. I can still remember it like yesterday, age four just got my new two wheel bike with painted flames, red and yellow reflectors, and nice feeling grips. Later that night still some light out went behind the Safeway in Novato (were the new Paradise Foods is) and started to ride around with my dad’s help. Once I got use to it and my dad swears he told me that to break press back on the pedals. He let me go on my own and to both my surprise and my parents I went straight into a fence, which felt like I was going super fast. Lucky me dad was close behind me and caught me right before hitting the ground. Though feeling I felt was not quite like Sarah’s but looking at the ground and almost hitting is still very scary. Another bad experience is when I got my first road bike a Masi. My dad took me out for a ride that afternoon and on the way back I fell down trying to follow my dad’s line down a narrow windy two line hill at about 17 mph. While going down the hill a car came up and we were really close to the middle line on a turn. I got spooked and thought I needed to move back in the middle of our lane. Instead I fell down and got really bad road rash on my hip, calf, elbow, shoulder, and tricep because I didn’t slow down enough when moving back. After that fall it took me awhile to get back on my road bike not only because of my road rash but how the fall affected my mindset. Since that point I did not get on my bike for a long time and this would be where we start to see differently.
Unlike Sarah’s experience of shooting the gun, I still ride my road bike every now and then. Still riding my bike only came to me lately once I started to train more for my Jiu Jitsu tournaments and after understanding why my dad and I have different points of view. For Sarah found that her dad and she were not all that different. While for me I found why my dad and I had different points of view starting with our sports, cycling and Martial Arts. While my dad saw endurance more important than strength, I saw the opposite. We could both see that you needed endurance and strength but could not agree on which one was more important. It took me awhile to understand and start to see why we saw differently. I started Martial Arts at four and it has all I have really known. My dad on the other hand started to race at sixteen being the youngest for many of the races he participated in and winning or getting in top ten. Both sports have been major parts of our lives and have shaped us so. What I realize now is we are two people submersed into our sport and only really known what is best for our sport. My dad for his long fast paced races and my time limit muscle fights. In the end we still love each other but will all see our sport as superior.

"The Insufficiency of Honesty" Dialogue
Why is integrity difficult to achieve?
As Stephen stated integrity can have different meanings for everyone. This makes integrity much more difficult to achieve because people will see you differently. It's like people looking at art, everyone has a different point of view of the art. Same goes for integrity as Stephen gave us several examples of how integrity can be different for people.
At the same time many people have similar views and values for integrity. Integrity can be seen in the same light when it comes to people's moral and ethical principles. For example most people see stealing as bad same goes for murder. On the other end of the spectrum people see giving stuff to people less fortunate then them as good. In the end integrity is hard to achieve because people are different and have different points of view.

For example most people see stealing as bad same goes for murder. On the other end of the spectrum people see giving stuff to people less fortunate then them as good. In the end integrity is hard to achieve because people are different and have different points of view.

Rules for Writers Chapter 4
This chapter was all about paragraphs and transitions between paragraphs. Tells about the different kinds of paragraphs and when and how to use these paragraphs. Also showing how to link paragraphs together smoothly and coherently. With the chapter ending on transitions within a paragraph and to other paragraphs. This was all useful but I found the most helpful, list of common transitions.
I personally have a hard time remembering all the different transitions I can use at certain times. Now having a list in my book will help use them and a place I can keep going back to until I have them down. The different types paragraphs and when to use them is also useful because it is something I need to work on. I type my papers I really do not think much more about the paper then getting it done and a good grade. Now I have more insight to what makes a better paper, hopeful I will remember to utilize it.

“Shooting Dad” Dialogue
What accounts for the narrator’s struggles with her dad?
Sarah and her dad's struggles come from being to very different people. While Sarah being a democrat and enjoying art and music. Her dad being a republican and enjoying guns. You could say there are on different sides of light spectrum. This started when Sarah first fired her first gun at age six with her twin sister.
Sarah's reaction was not for her, while her twin's reaction was totally for her. This event triggered Sarah's not understanding of her father's interest in guns. Next difference would be their hobbies. Sarah enjoying art and music and her father being a gunsmith. Leading to having their own sides of the house, one for music and art other for guns. These differences led to their struggles but in the end Sarah found that they are very similar. "We're both smart-alecky loners with goody projects and wired equipment." (439)

Writing Topic: Rules for Writers Chapter 3
Proofreading is great tool to make a better paper could also change how the paper looks completely. While proofreading a paper you might end up changing a few things or whole sections and paragraphs. While the best way to proofread your own paper is to read it out aloud.
This chapter had points that I need to do more often. While most papers I do for non english classes I do not really proofread or give me much time to edit at all like day before. This is a bad habit I need to remove and try to give all my papers a chance to be proofread and edit to get best grade. Hopefully by end of this semester I will be able to get rid of my many bad english habits.

“Coming Home Again” Dialogue
Why does his mother regret allowing him to attend boarding school?
His mother regretted leting him go to Exeter because at the time she did not know she was going to die. At the time he was going off to school she did not know later in life she would have cancer in her stomach and die. For Chang-rae thought she was very proud of him for graduating from school. So when she said, "Yes. I made a big mistake. You should be with us for that time. I should never let you go there." (page 128) Chang-rae was not that surprised by still shocked.
Though she said this is she understands that if he had stayed "...you would not like me so much now." (page 128). So it is a little like a double edged sword with her decision to let him go. She knows how both ways would end up and so does Chang-rae. In the end both would still make the same decision but both did not like the ending.

Writing Topic: Rules for Writers chapter 2
I can see why we are reading this chapter this week. The chapter is about writing a thesis, conclusion, introduction. These parts of a paper are probably the hardest parts to write for people. The chapter really shows ways to revise a thesis for short and long papers. Before now never thought a thesis could be different depending on the length of the paper. While writing the introduction and conclusion are troublesome in the chapter shows ways to reduce this.
As for me the hardest part of a paper is getting started. This writer's block has been slightly removed with freewriting but not all the way. After reading there was one paragraph that stood out the most. Four paragraphs into the chapter it talks about writer's block and having your introduction as perfect as possible before moving on. This happens to me all the time and I know my introductions are not perfect but I know that I half to have the best intro I can write before moving on. I also know that this maybe a stalling technique that I have developed and can't seem to get rid of it. Now I know that I can write my paper without a intro and go back to it later. Which will be hard knowing that all my school years you have to write a intro before you can move on with your paper or you would lose out on points.

Essay 1

My Black Belt
Martial Arts is by far the most significant part of my life. I should start by explaining the picture you see. On the right is myself and to the left is my Sensei, picture was taken after my 1st Dan test in the dojo (Dan is first degree black belt also known as Shodan). I started when I was just four years old and have not stopped since. Now turning twenty in September, sixteen years or roughly eighty percent of my life I have been doing something I love and enjoy. So you could say that Martial Arts have shaped my life in someway or another. First of all Martial Arts have shown me how to be kind and respectful to others.
Starting Martial Arts at four years I was already kind and respectful to everyone around me. With Martial Arts I believe this trait has been permanently sketched into me. The reason for this is when I met difficult people when I work anywhere I am able to keep my cool and talk to the person. Comes in handy when working at a dojo with middle schoolers and high schoolers within a mile and have think-they-are-funny-teenagers come in. While learning to be kind and respectful to others is a great thing I learned something more important.
Confidence is the single most important thing that I have learned from Martial Arts. I was always a silent kid and only talk when I had to and if I did not like the teacher you would never see me talk. Me being silent and not liking my teacher came back to bite me in butt in sixth grade for my core teacher wanted to hold me back because I did not contribute in his class but still had a B in his class. If you had looked at my other class you would seen me with A’s and contributing in class. When I had heard this at first I was mad and disliked him even more but when next trimester came around you saw me contribute in the class more than others. Major reason for this is I just gotten first youth black belt in Taekwondo at age ten in December. At the end of the test my Sensei told me that about 1 in 100 people who start get their black belt. After I realized that a black belt is hard to achieve and I achieved it. Made talking in public an ease after that, making me feel right at home talking in front of people no matter how many. While Martial Arts taught me about my body and soul it also gave me a career choice.
I starting teach about six years ago when I entered high school, probability the best thing to happen to me back then. The reason for this was I hit a big bump my friends and people I started Taekwondo with were leaving for college or quitting. This put me in a difficult place where the only people I was training with were adults and not kids and friends, made going much harder. My Sensei asked me to help teach some of the classes and at first I did not know if I would like it. Six years later here I am still taking different Martial Art in the same place and teaching my own classes. Fun how stuff works out in life something I was unsure of at first might become my career choice. Though still not sure yet but in the mean time I have a job and really enjoying it. The best part is seeing the kids you teach grow and apply the moves; you get a feeling of some kind of accomplishment.
In the end you see how Marital Arts has been in my life and how it definitely shaped my life. Martial Arts has shown me what I am made of and saved me many times from others and myself (knowing who to roll when I fall down avoids many injuries). With Martial Arts in my life for so long and helping choose paths through life you can be sure I will continue for as long as I can.

"The Ways We Lie" Dialogue
Do you agree with Ericsson's definition of this lie?
I do agree with Ericsson's definitions of the different lies. First of all I thought there was just a lie and not so many different kinds of a lie. While reading I was thinking is there really this many types of lies and not just a plain old lie. Longer into the reading I notice that was very wrong. At the end of each definition I soon realized that I have seen that type of lie used at sometime. I really do agree with Ericsson's definition and I the one I like the best is the same as hers.
The best is the out-and-out lie which her little nephew breaks the fence and blames the murderers. This is something I see ever day with the kids that I teach. Usually at the end of class we play a game where they throw gloves at each other like dodgeball but on their knees instead of feet. Don't worry the kids are respectful each other and know one really gets hurt. While playing I see kids you get hit by a glove and when I call them out there are three classic responses. "I did not feel it!?!", "I hit (insert name here) too!", and "No I DIDN'T". The hardest part is when the 3.5-6 years old lie because who could argue with someone as little and cute as them.

Writing Topic: Rules for Writers chapter 1
The two main points that I took away from chapter 1 is how to start a paper and ways to make your paper stronger. In the first chapter there is a lot of great points on how to start a paper from freewriting to picking at a subject. With the freewriting you can just write and write then go back and see if there is any use. As for already having a subject but can't seem to move on, try picking a part your subject to find more information to write about or give you ideas.
The first chapter also had great points on how to improve your paper by setting up a great thesis and how to outline the paper. There is a part about how a thesis really makes a paper great and how to do this by condensing the thesis and having a true pointing for the thesis. While how to use an outline is the part that I read a few times because it was something I really needed.
When and how to use a outline was a breakthrough for me. I always start with a outline for my papers no matter what subject from math to english. Which in hindsight may have hindered my papers until now. On page 18 it talks about how a outline may be better off used later on in the writing process and not right from the start. This is something I will try on the essay next week, just write and worry how it will go together later once I a good chunk of writing on the paper.

“The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me” Dialogue
How could it be dangerous to be smart?
Well in Alexie's case he had a big target on him. Alexie had taught himself to read at the age of three from superman comics. By the time he was in kindergarten Alexie was leaps and bounds ahead of other kids in reading. Not only did Alexie read books and comics he read whatever he could get his hands on. In the end Alexie was exceptional at reading and writing and as result answered questions in class putting the big target on Alexie.
Now to bring people back to your grade school days. In grade school everyone knew who the fastest, strongest, meanest, and smartest kid was. We were told not to label other kids but it just happen and if you were one of kids you knew it too. This would lead to you having a target on you and if you were the smartest kid this could make other kids dislike you. The reason being smart is dangerous is when you are a kid you are different than others. As kids we are mean when adults are not around and for Alexie's target it was intensified by being the only "smart Indian".

Freewriting Dialogue
A freewrite is a pretty much time you spend just writing down whatever might be in your head, name says it all. This is great because not only go you get to write down whatever you will not be graded on it or get feedback. This way you do not have to worry about what you are writing down. With you writing down whatever might be in your head it helps clear your mind of "garbage". This could be very helpful when starting a paper or essay to clear one's mind. I know this will help me write because I'm always thinking about other things when I need to be focus on writing. Like now I'm think about my tournament this Saturday when my focus should be here. Now for the reading I found very funny and insightful.
The reading had great points and names for freewrtie, my favorite being a "babbling" exercise. This is a great way to explain a freewrite as this is exactly what I did in my freewrite. The best thing about how a freewrite is it's graded or really read by anyone else. This makes it much easier to babble and my mistakes will still helping you learn to write and remembering all the keys on the keyboard (being a while since I had to type this long).

Writing Topic: Rules for Writers chapter 46
First and foremost Rules for Writers is a great book and wished I had this back in High School. It's leaps and bounds better than my old english books. With being a visual and hands on learner this book helps me understand concepts learned in High School I didn't quite get when the teacher would explain orally. Helpful tools I will be using in the future are guidelines for active reading, writing a summary, and analyzing text. I always had the basics down for summaries and analyzing texts, but no teacher ever gave me guidelines to help clarify my questions I had once home. These new guidelines for me two use will help me become a better writer because I will understand more of any text I read no matter how dense. Now onto the main points of chapter 46.
Active reading is a great way to help you understand any text you might read. Active reading helps break down dense texts to tiny parts that are easily read and understand, but also with easy read helps you find and condense main points made. Active reading is a skill useful for reading text, then helping you summarize, and analyzing if need be. Active reading is the foundation to creating your papers and understanding the very dense scientific articles.
Another main point is learning how to start your paper. This is always something I have trouble with getting started on my paper. If I can summarize points/information and then analyze those points/information, it will become much easier to get started on my papers. This will help me with my outline when starting a new paper this year.

Week 1 Introduction
My name is Haruki Yee and I'm 19 years old. Things you should know about me is I'm a marital arts instructor in Terra Linda and terrible at writing as you will soon find out. As for my educational goals is to find out if I should continue teaching martial arts and turn it into a life long job or go into a science major. This question is sorta the reason for taking this class with it being online I only to be in a classroom two days a week (Very Nice).
As for the best way for me to learn it would be a blend of visual and kinesthetic learning. For the type of student I am it would be a last second type. Doing my school work and homework usually gets done a day or two before due date. So if I pace or do work early that would be a big NO, something I hope to change this semester.
